In Sri Lanka, Slipper / shoe lobsters are generally caught in the northern coastal waters. The sandy, muddy, and reef sea bed of the northern part of the island gives a  good habitat for slipper lobsters. Slipper lobsters are mainly exported as whole frozen and as tail on lobster meat to American and European  continents.
